I say eating and not diet

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

The first long run of the new training is complete, thank goodness. It was a long one but it wasn’t really too bad. The bottoms of my feet are a little tender but no blisters, YES!!!! It was tough getting up today but I had to, I’m glad I did it. My eating went well all week long with the exception of Monday due to all the grilling being done. Notice I say eating and not diet, diet sounds like a punishment so I prefer eating. I made sure to eat every three hours so that I kept my energy up all day. I never felt too hungry and I consumed a lot less calories. So far everything is going well.

Yes that’s Saturday morning, who does this?

Friday, May 30th, 2008

I had an extremely rough time getting up this morning, that’s what I get for watching the NBA playoffs. The workout was a good one today even though I would prefer to have this day off but I missed yesterday and I felt I needed it. I went a little late this morning but oh well, that may happen from time to time. Tomorrow is the 10 miler and I should be at the gym around 4 am or so. Yes that’s Saturday morning, who does this? I’m anxious for the weigh in tomorrow to see what this week has done for me.

By the way, I had the urge to stop at McDonald’s for breakfast after taking my son to day care. I didn’t go; I think this web page is helping me stay quite focused. I came home and had some Cheerios. Like I told my brother last night, I’m starting to get used to eating right so now my body is not living to eat but eating to live. Until tomorrow, time to go to work….

How’s that for motivation?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Today was a rough morning, after eating every three hours yesterday I woke up with a monster headache and missed my workout today.  I am thinking I didn’t get enough carbs in during the day yesterday. No worries though I will be there tomorrow which just means there will be an extra blog to read. So since I can’t talk about how much I am sore from the weights today I’d like to let you all know about my main support group.

Nooch (my wife) – Keeps me motivated, listens to me tell her what I am going to do 300 times a day and never tells me to stop talking. Always reminds me to keep my eyes on the prize.

Damien (my brother) – Been there in my worst of times and believed in me then and still does now. Also takes care of putting stuff on this website because I would mess it all up.

Luco (bro-in-law) – This is the guy who got me started in this, he’s a personal trainer down in the Miami area and he’s great at it, if I need some advice I can give him a ring. He doesn’t give you time to feel sorry for yourself which is what people like myself need to stay on course.

Ibob (bro-in-law) – Comic relief, he changes diets and workouts 3 times a week and keeps the mood good even when things are tense.

Les Jr. (my dad) – Also known as Cinco Cinco, he’s been there my whole life. I look to make him proud. He started training in February 08’ for the half marathon which he completed on May 18th. He never ran until February this year at age 54, how’s that for motivation?

There’s more but I have to draw the line somewhere or I would never finish. Time to go to work…..

Time to go to work

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Today is the first workout blog on my journey. Yesterday should have been the day but my 24 hour gym’s doors weren’t working so we were locked out. I was afraid this was a sign, IT WASN’T.

Today was a decent day, 4 miles. I felt pretty good the whole time. It’s the first day back since the half marathon on the 18 so it’s been 10 days. I could kind of feel the 10 days in today’s session but I managed. I didn’t do any weights today; tomorrow I do chest, triceps, and shoulders. I usually do my weights before the cardio. It makes it much more of a challenge. We’ll see how I feel after that tomorrow. Now I have my day job to go to. Time to go to work….
