Today’s race didn’t go as planned. Like a few months ago I went out early. I am not injured or anything like that I just didn’t get it done. As I sat there after I stopped I thought about what happened and I came to this conclusion, I need to be more consistent. i need to be more consistent with the training and more consistent with my diet. more consistency in these two areas is going to get me across the finish line. To me the unbearable pain early in the race means I need to lose more weight. That is what I started this for so that is what will happen. It looks like from here on out I will be able to do my runs outside so that will be a big help in preparing me for the rest of my runs this year. I can say I am disappointed today but I am only disappointed in myself. I think after Disney I felt sorry for myself and that hurt my training and diet over the last few months. I don’t feel sorry for myself today. I have my next race on May 2nd in Prescott, Arizona. I will be working extremely hard to make that one go as planned. we shot a video today before and after the race. I didn’t want to run from the video like I did after Disney. It is done in a different format so it may not be until Wednesday before I can get it posted, but it will be posted. I’m going back to the videos to keep me consistent. We will go back to the weekly weigh-ins. I learned a great lesson today. Six more races, no more setbacks.
Sorry it didn’t go to plan, but I’ve learned the hard way that consistency is the key. If I train regulalry I have a good race, if training is hit and miss – I struggle. You’ve learned the lesson, so something positive has come from it, so onwards and upwards and best of luck for the next one
Leslie, I know you really really want to do marathons and half-marathons but maybe for a little while you should concentrate on 5Ks?? It would take a lot of pressure off your legs and still put you in the “race” mood. Good luck. I’m so sorry that your body let you down. But, yeah, you are moving to an area you can be outside a LOT and that will probably make a big difference. Good luck with the weight also because every 10 pounds you lose will probably make a big difference in how you run. I know it made a big difference with me. Take care and good luck.
