It is hot out today. It would be the year I come back here that we have record high temperatures in Miami for this time of year. That’s the story of my life I guess, gotta love it. I did six miles today. I tried to go out a little earlier to beat the heat but it didn’t really work, it was still hot. I made it through though and I was strong the whole way. I did absolutely nothing yesterday and it was a much needed rest. I did manage to slipped on a freshly mopped floor here at home and try to bury my knee into the tile. I must say the pain was amazing, thankfully I only ended up with a nice bruise under my knee. You know the kind that every time you touch it hurts for 5 minutes? Today I’m good though and I am at 21 miles for the week, with one day to go. I’m thinking 25 miles for the week won’t be a problem this time. Well, time to rest the legs and do it again tomorrow. Each week gets better.

Each week gets better
Friday, October 30th, 2009Another 3 miles in the bag
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009It is outrageously hot out there today. I was able to squeak out 3 miles before the elements took their toll on me. I am totally exhausted right now. I can’t even explain how tired I am right now. I’m not sure if I am also tired from the last couple days but my legs and everything felt fine, it was the Sun that was beating me up and beating me up badly. I’m not sure if I have sweat this much since I have been here in Miami. Oh well, another 3 miles in the bag, I was going to take the day off when I woke up this morning but something dragged me outside. I’m glad it did. When you get in 3 miles on your day off, that’s a bonus isn’t it? Time to shower then rest, I can already feel a great nap coming.
No dogs, frogs, or squirrels today
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009Good day today, I did another six miles. That makes twelvemiles over the last 2 days. I feel pretty good actually even though I did them at the hottest time of the day. I made sure to stretch well afterwards too. I am really happy with the way I feel right now, it could mean some big time progress for me. Not much to it today, it was pretty routine. It was a beautiful day today, so I had no reason to not want to finish even though it was quite warm out. No dogs, frogs, or squirrels today either. Hump day tomorrow so we will see what happens then. I plan on keeping it moving and right now that would probably be a pretty good bet. I may not do six miles though. I have to say I am eating well too. Currently there is a tilapia and broccoli waiting on me for dinner, quite a large portion of broccoli I might add. Don’t worry I don’t put cheese on it, that seems like it would be absolutely disgusting. Time to relax for the rest of the evening and rest up for tomorrow.
Six miles down and it’s only Monday
Monday, October 26th, 2009A great start to the week for me today. I did a six miler at about 2 pm. It was alright. It was quite warm today and it seemed more humid than normal but I guess that is normal around Miami. At around mile five there is a house I go past where 3 dogs always bark at me. I’m used to them by now but today one of them got out. As I passed by the house I felt something wet on my leg and I turned around and almost had a shock as I usually would run from a dog. However, I needed to make sure this dog didn’t get hit or taken away by someone else, especially because he was running after me. I guess that was the highlight of my run today. I also went outside around 1pm to start but it was really hot and of course with no working headphones I felt keeping my mind on things would be quite a chore without the distraction of the music to take me away. So I made a pit stop at Best Buy and picked up new headphones. That did the trick. Six miles down and it’s only Monday. Gotta love it.
Not my thing but I survived
Saturday, October 24th, 2009I’ve been away for a few days but I haven’t been inactive. My body is giving me a little trouble right now so I have been lightening the load a little over the past couple days. I said I wasn’t going to take the day off on Wednesday, but I did anyway. It was needed. I will get out tomorrow as well for another light day before starting a new week. As long as the weight keeps coming off then we are making progress. I think over the next month I may feel comfortable with signing up for a race, then I can get back to really getting into my videos, even if I have to do them myself. Other than a little wear and tear, everything is going along as I want it to. Oh, did I mention I hate animals. Frogs, lizards, and squirrels. Now I can’t even remember seeing squirrels in Miami growing up and I thought I was hallucinating the other day but there were two squirrels on a tree I had to run by. Not my thing but I survived.
If I can go, I’m gonna go
Tuesday, October 20th, 2009Today was okay. I did a 4 miler around two in the afternoon and i cut it short (I was looking to do 6) because my groin was really not feeling all that great. I have to do a better job stretching is what I think the issue is there. I felt fine until about almost 3 miles when I started tightening up real bad, 4.2 miles felt like a good point to stop at. Right now I am totally beat for whatever reason, I’m just extra tired. Sleepy tired so I don’t think I’m overworking myself. Another positive day is in the books, even though it wasn’t the most positive I could have had during my cardio session. Best thing about today was, I didn’t struggle, even with all the tightness. Tomorrow, we do it again. I would normally take a day off tomorrow but I think I will be good to go tomorrow. If I can go, I’m gonna go.
Not too long, not too short
Monday, October 19th, 2009I switched it up a little today, with the 75 degree temperatures outside I had to go out and run in it. It was much much more comfortable. I didn’t do much today just a 3 miler. It was good, I can feel a little soreness from last week in my joints still so the three miles was just about right. Not too long, not too short. Overall a great day and I plan on doing some great things tomorrow. I’m still on the right track and I am loving every second of it. While my workout was great today there isn’t much you can write about a three mile run that went absolutely perfect. That’s a good thing right?
I’m extra motivated
Friday, October 16th, 2009I’m getting ready for a good one outside today. I’m looking at 6 miles, however, it is raining a bit out right now. We all know this will be gone within an hour or so here in Miami. Hopefully the cloud cover stays. It is so much better when the Sun is not beating down on you. It’s still hot but it doesn’t feel like death. I’m extra motivated today so it should be a good one. I’ll be back.
Well, I’m back and you won’t believe this one. I thought the weather was gone but it wasn’t. I barely got a mile in before the lightning came back with a vengeance. It’s been about an hour and I am going out to finish up today’s workout now. So once again, I will be back. It was really humid out there today. Ouch.
Well, I’m finally done and I think I did more than I was supposed to by one or two laps, I lost count. I usually take a drink of water every two or three laps and I was just in a zone so I forgot where I was. Instead of possibly going short I just went long to make sure I got my miles in. I swear I did lap five like three times now that I look back at it. I finished pretty strong today so I was pleased with my effort. the title today is “I’m extra motivated” so I guess mother nature was testing to see how motivated I was when it made me stop the first time. I won’t lie I thought of not going out there again but I didn’t think about it too long. I have an early day tomorrow since my day is full so I do this all over again in less than 12 hours. no big deal, it’s what must be done. Well things are going great, everything is going in the right direction so I’m happy with life right now. Let’s keep it going.
You make me proud Dub
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009Second day down this week and I started my cardio this week with a 4 miler. It wasn’t too hot but it seemed very humid out today, it made for a good workout. I don’t mind the humidity as long as it keeps me melting away. Nothing much to write about today’s workout except that it was pretty routine. It may be time for me to step up the pace a little bit. We will see how that goes. Today my son son turns 7 years old. I haven’t seen him in 6 months due to circumstances. I miss him dearly. You have a great birthday today and hopefully this will be the last one I miss until I leave this Earth. You make me proud Dub. You and your sister are probably the biggest reasons why I get up and do the things I do everyday. I love you guys.
Many people will give up on your dream…
Monday, October 12th, 2009Today I woke up thinking about a conversation I had back in June with a friend of mine. In that conversation I told him, “Many people will give up on your dream but remember it’s your dream, they can’t see it like you see it.” I saw he posted this up on his Facebook page four months ago. For whatever reason I woke up this morning thinking about it. It lit the fire under me this morning and fueled an amazing workout. First day back on the weights in a week and I think I have improved. I took less rest between sets and finished up in a little over an hour. Now that is 3 sets on every body part so I am very pleased with my progress and as I lift the weights I can look in the mirror and see my progress as well. Things are going great. Tomorrow some good cardio and I am really looking forward to getting that much closer to my goals. In a little while here I will begin to look for more races for possibly the end of the year and the first quarter of the year. No more steps backwards.
