It was a long and interesting weekend for me and yesterday was a day that saw me in bed all day long. I caught some sort of bug Saturday during the day but tried to ignore it. I did for as long as I could. Well, by Monday, I had to stay in. I’m okay now as I think it has done something else for me. Fixed my workout times. I was up at 5 am this morning ready to go so I did. I only had 4.5 miles to do today which is never really ONLY. I have to say I am a little weak and only one other person knew I was under the weather until the rest of you seven read this but I think I will be okay. Speaking of seven, counting this week I have seven weeks until race day. I will be good and ready and it will be fun. I look forward to the race and I want to feel super confident when i get out there. I’m just racing against myself so that is the best part. Well, today has been a long one so far and I will probably get to bed quite early tonight, we will see. Tomorrow we get up and do it again, I will add a little more speed to tomorrow’s run. Be great!!!
I feel your pain. I’ve had a nagging head cold for a few days that has killed my long end speed. I can start fine, but I slowed A LOT before I finished. I did 8 today and had negative splits for the second four, but the last mile was 25 seconds slower than the two before it and it felt faster. My long run on Sunday was 4 miles short because of a deluge at 7 miles that soaked me to the bone and made me that much more miserable. All in all last week fell 12 miles short because of this thing. 52 for this week should be OK, but I can tell that tomorrow’s speed work is going to suffer. I’m feeling better though, so hopefully only a couple more days of crap left to deal with.
Sounds like you are making great progress regardless of feeling a bit under the weather. The weather report in Green Bay this week is wonderful…just got done with a 5 miler and it was 50 degrees out! Hopefully race day will be about the same temp! Saturday is our 10 miler…and the weather should be similar to today…looking forward to it! The countdown to race day is on….I am excited….can’t wait to cross the finish line and smile!!!
Sorry to hear Mike, it is horrible isn’t it? I will give you a pass with 52 miles, haha!
I’m getting there Terry. I’m hoping the temp is that good, that would be excellent, a little chilly but better than 85 degrees. It should be a fun race.
